Travel calendar No. 06
June
Summer, while it still has room.
June is the summer before summer. The Mediterranean is warm enough, the days are the longest of the year, and the great holiday wave only begins towards the end of the month.
If you like islands, use the first three weeks. What changes afterwards is not the weather but the number of people.
Why this month
Why this month is special
Until around the twentieth of June you can still book houses that have been full since winter for July. The same rooms, the same light, a different rate.
In the north, June belongs to Scotland and Scandinavia: evenings that barely darken, and landscapes made for exactly that.
What should you keep in mind in June?
Europe is still calm in June, though rates have already risen. The Mediterranean is warm and the days are the longest of the year. In southern Africa the most reliable safari season begins, and in Botswana the floodwater arrives. One note: by the second half of June, Italy already feels like high season.
