Minimalist suite in the Utah desert facing red rock formations

For First-Time Aman Guests

An orientation for travellers booking their first Aman.

Aman is less a chain than a temperament, and that temperament reads differently in every place. A first booking is rarely a choice between two hotels; it is a choice between two very different journeys.

This selection gathers five addresses where the idea comes through most clearly: city and silence, desert and water, arriving and letting go.

Our perspective

For a first stay we tend to suggest a resort rather than a city address. The restraint in the service reveals itself over several days, and cities rarely leave room for that.

Four to five nights is a good length. Anything shorter delivers the arrival but not the rhythm.

An Invitation

Once a month: hotels, new openings and travel ideas

One hotel that convinced us, with our advice on suite and season. The openings that actually matter. And a destination at its best right now. No offers, no advertising.
