The Pure Voyage Edit is not a news format. We write about what has genuinely occupied us — houses we have recommended, places we were long unsure about, and journeys that turned out better than expected.

01 — New Openings
Rosewood Castiglion del Bosco
Montalcino, Toskana
A wine estate with an abandoned twelfth-century hamlet, patiently restored over many years — today with suites in the borgo and villas across the slopes.
- Why it matters
- The estate covers more than a thousand hectares and sits almost entirely within a nature park. That expanse is rare in Tuscany and cannot be built.
- Who it suits
- For travellers who know Tuscany and want to stay a week in one place. May, September, October.
02 — Hotels We Are Watching
NIHI Sumba
Sumba, Indonesien
Twenty-eight villas on a bay of an island barely touched by tourism. Getting there takes time and is part of the experience.
- Why it matters
- The house is closely tied to the island — foundation, school, water projects. Such connections are rarely this grown and this unexplained.
- Who it suits
- For travellers who have left Bali behind and do not read remoteness as a drawback. Seven nights and more, May to October.
03 — Journeys We Love
Explora Patagonia
Torres del Paine, Chile
A house on the shore of Lago Pehoé from which guided walks and rides depart each day. The weather sets the programme, not the plan.
- Why it matters
- The combination of serious walking and a carefully run house is rare. Those returning in the evening find calm rather than expedition atmosphere.
- Who it suits
- For active travellers who put landscape above comforts. November to March, five nights.
04 — Exceptional Villas
Girijaala Suite, Amangiri
Canyon Point, Utah
A free-standing suite with its own pool and a view across the rock formations, set slightly apart from the main pavilion.
- Why it matters
- In the desert, orientation decides everything. This suite is placed so that sunrise and the last hour before sunset are visible from the same terrace — that is what the premium buys.
- Who it suits
- For couples and for stays beyond three nights. March to May, October and November.
05 — The Return List
Italy We Love

Our continuing selection of Italian addresses, ordered by landscape: Liguria, Tuscany, the Veneto, Amalfi.
- Why it matters
- Italy is often planned too full. The collection is built so that two regions can be joined sensibly, rather than crossing five cities in ten days.
- Who it suits
- For planning a first longer journey through Italy — and for those returning who intend to travel more slowly this time.
