Private Islands
A private island is not exclusivity. It is the absence of negotiation.
The Chapter
When the island is the hotel, the hotel finally disappears.
On a private island there is no lobby to cross, no street to negotiate, no other version of the day happening somewhere nearby. The geography and the hospitality are the same object.
We look for restraint. An island can be ruined faster than anywhere else on earth — by too many villas, too much lighting, too much programme. The houses here have resisted all three.
Bring almost nothing. That is rather the point.
