Terracotta rooftops and cypress trees above a calm Mediterranean sea at golden hour

Slow Travel

Destinations

Six places we know well enough to be specific about — where to sleep, where to eat late, and what to do with a morning that has nothing in it.

On Slow Travel

Fewer places, longer stays, and a willingness to be unproductive.

These are not itineraries. We do not believe in seeing four towns in three days, and we have never found anything worth knowing at the pace of a coach tour.

Each guide assumes you will stay somewhere for at least four nights, walk before breakfast, eat where the light is good, and leave one day entirely unplanned. It is, in our experience, the only reliable way to remember a place afterwards.

One letter each month: a place worth the detour, an object worth keeping, a page worth reading slowly. Nothing more.
