We last planned this for a couple in their early sixties who knew Italy but not at this pace. The lake sets the rhythm, Tuscany the tempo. Reversed, the lake never quite arrives.
No rental car. A driver covers the stretch between the houses, which turns a transfer day into a travel day.

Nights 1–4
Lake Como, western shore
Villa with its own jetty, lake-view room
One day with a private boat to Bellagio and the bays you cannot see from the road. One dinner at the water, one day with nothing planned.

Overland
Driver, stop in Parma or Modena
Five hours broken by a lunch that justifies the day. Arrival in the Val d'Orcia before sunset.
Nights 5–9
Val d'Orcia, south of Siena
Wine estate with its own suites and kitchen
Two guided half-days — Pienza and Montalcino — a private tasting in the cellar, otherwise garden, pool and the road to Bagno Vignoni.

Florence
Transfer to the airport or an extension in the city
Two nights in Florence can be added; we suggest it only outside the summer months.
