Planned for two adults; it works equally well with children from eight, provided a private vehicle is booked at the lodge.

Nights 1–3
Cape Town
House on the slope above the city, Table Mountain view
An early morning at the Cape before the coaches. One day with nothing planned, because the flight was long.
Nights 4–6
Franschhoek, winelands
Wine estate with six rooms and serious cooking
Two tastings, no more. Otherwise bicycles, garden and lunch under oaks.
Nights 7–10
Sabi Sand
Lodge with private vehicle and dedicated guide
Two drives a day and one morning on foot with a tracker. The private vehicle is the difference between watching and understanding.

Charter flight to Johannesburg
Overnight flight from Johannesburg, day room if needed.

May to September is dependable. Four safari nights are the minimum; three feel cut short.
